Stainless Steel Candy Thermometer, also known as a sugar thermometer or jam thermometer, is a kitchen tool used to accurately measure the temperature of sugar syrups during confectionery and baking. It allows cooks to identify the different stages of cooked sugar such as thread, soft ball, firm ball and hard crack, which determine the texture of sweets like fudge, caramel, marshmallows, toffee and brittle.

Most candy thermometers are designed with a stainless steel body and a clip to attach securely to the side of a saucepan, allowing the probe to sit in the mixture while cooking. They typically measure temperatures from about 100?F to 400?F (around 40?C to 200?C), making them suitable not only for confectionery but also for jam making, sugar syrups and deep frying.
